Why does the thrill of soaring have to begin with the fear of falling? I believe most people will spend their whole life, “in a box” for fear of…….failure, the unknown, worry about what other people might think? the list goes on. Being on the fence and living your life in a box, or your comfort zone are the same. Your life will pass you by. When you are 80 and sitting in your rocking chair on your porch, reflecting your life, don’t ever regret the things you didn’t do.
The reason for people living their life this way, in my opinion is that they lack vision. Somewhere along the way, someone took it from them. When we are children, we think we can do anything! We believe in everything, Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the stupid little elves that fly around our home. Children have faith also. They believe in Jesus, until they grow up and start hanging around or dating someone who does not believe.
My youngest daughter Carli has a faith and belief like this, and I will throat punch anyone who tries to steal if from her. Carli has one of the “Elf on the shelf” deals, and she named it Rosie. That thing is a lot of work. Having to move it around, and come up with cool ideas, all the while making a mess of your home. My husband decided it was time to tell her the truth about the elf. He explained to her that it wasn’t real, and Rosie was not really flying around the house at night. After spending 10 minutes of explaining this to Carli, she looks at Curt and says, “Nope, that’s not true Dad, Rosie is real”.
So, I am going to let her keep thinking that and let it be.
How does one not become a critic and skeptical and fear everything? It all starts with who we hang around. There is a quote that says, “Do you want to cluck with the chickens or fly with the eagles”? I may have paraphrased that but you get the gist. Another reason is what we put in our mind. Garbage in, garbage out! Those who watch the news; rather, start their day watching the news are usually the most skeptical and fearful people. I can spot them a mile away. They always know the latest robbery, or accident or murder, and that is their conversations. The small minds talk about other people. They live their life stereotyping everybody because of the news. They think everyone is a pedophile or a pervert and therefore, they can help no one! Boy, the devil sure is loving that! They are perfectly content with living a mediocre life! Is that is YOU, then stop reading this right now! Because this message is for those who want to life an extraordinary life, and do that by helping other people. Being part of the solution.
Let’s start with some questions? Why am I here? Why am I afraid to live larger? WE are all here to do one thing: Make disciples, or in other terms, make leaders. When we start with leading in our own life, then we can start helping to build other people. One of the things I love to do is help someone discover why they are here on earth. It all starts with discovering your gifts. Your strengths. There are a couple ways to do that. For me, and how I now have a strong sense of “who I am”, it was finding out “who I was in Christ”. There are so many lost souls out there, looking for approval and acceptance. You know the ones, they plan their own parties in their own honor. They are constantly complaining about something. They are never content. They are always searching. It all starts with ONE and that ONE is Jesus. Whether you believe it or not, does not change the fact that it’s the truth. THE fact about Jesus is he was, is,and will always be the greatest leader to ever walk the earth.
It’s time to start living Large! It’s time to get your shift together. I know that I am only talking to about 2% of the population right now, but we have to start somewhere.
Start with the pictures and thoughts that come into your mind. What you think about and speak about is what your life will manifest. Start speaking life over every area of your life. This will give you some confidence and you will eventually stop doubting. Doubt torments the heart. We all have the same opportunities. Jim Rohn said, “We are all in a little sailboat, and it’s not the blowing of the wind that determines your destination, it’s the set of the sail. The SAME wind blows on us all, the wind of disaster, the wind of opportunity, the wind of change, the same wind blows on us all.” But, it is all in the story you keep telling yourself. Start paying attention to your self talk. What are you saying about yourself? What are you saying about others around you. How you speak about yourself and about others, reflect the condition of your heart. Your attitude is the aroma of your heart, if your attitude stinks, it means your heart is not right.
When will you climb out of your box or jump off the fence and do what you were created to do? Someday isn’t on the calendar. Tony Robbins said, “someday, leads to a town of nowhere”. Stop asking “what if I fail” and start asking, “What if I succeed”. Most of us have failed our way forward. If you never fail at anything, you will never learn anything. Whether you believe you can, or you believe you can’t, you’re right! Your actions will always follow your beliefs.
Your greatness only happens OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!
